چکیده
Abstract Chemical modification of lignocellulosic fillers is a hydrophobization process that has been used for years in the production wood-polymer composites (WPCs). However, finding new, more effective modifiers still big challenge and remains subject much research. This study involved chemical wood with use newly designed ammonium imidazolium ionic liquids containing reactive functional groups. The effectiveness was confirmed using FTIR XRD techniques. effect on supermolecular structure morphology investigated by X-ray diffraction, hot stage optical microscopy differential scanning calorimetry. A significant influence modifier shaping polymorphic varieties polymer matrix demonstrated. also had nucleating properties fillers, which determined crystallization parameters (crystallization half-time, temperature, crystal conversion). Moreover, formation transcrystalline PP layer noticed, showed large variation depending liquid. obtained results correlated very well mechanical tests. It shown it possible to precisely design an liquid group capable interacting hydroxyl groups cellulose molecules. possibility functionalizing material innovative without need organic solvents not demonstrated so far. Dissolution of wood in ionic liquids.
The present paper demonstrates that both hardwoods and softwoods are readily soluble in various imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) under gentle conditions. More specifically, a variety of ionic liquids can only partially dissolve wood chips, whereas ionic liquids such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride have good solvating power for Norway spruce ...
متن کاملHighly Compatible Wood Thermoplastic Composites from Lignocellulosic Material Modified in Ionic Liquids: Preparation and Thermal Properties
A study of converting chemically modified wood into thermoplastic materials was undertaken to develop a new technology platform for the effective utilization of wood-based lignocellulosic materials. Highly substituted benzoylated spruce thermomechanical pulp (TMP) and lauroylated spruce TMP were used as components for thermoplastic composites of poly(styrene) and poly(propylene). Scanning elect...

DEVELOPMENT OF IONIC POLYMER METALIC COMPOSITES AS SENSORS By: David Griffiths Ionomeric polymer transducers (IPTs) are an exciting new class of smart materials that can serve a dual purpose in engineering or biomedical applications as sensors or actuators. Most commonly they are used for mechanical actuation, as they have the ability to generate large bending strai...
متن کاملIonic Polymer-Metal Composites (IPMC) As Biomimetic Sensors and Actuators
This paper discusses a number of recent findings in connection with ion-exchange polymer-noble metal composites (IPMC) as biomimetic sensors and actuators. These smart composites exhibit characteristics of both actuators and sensors. Strips of these composites can undergo large bending and flapping displacement if an electric field is imposed across their thickness. Thus, in this sense they are...
متن کاملProgress in Imidazolium Ionic Liquids Assisted Fabrication of Carbon Nanotube and Graphene Polymer Composites
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene sheets are the most promising fillers for polymer nanocomposites due to their superior mechanical, electrical, thermal optical and gas barrier properties, as well as high flame-retardant efficiency. The critical challenge, however, is how to uniformly disperse them into the polymer matrix to achieve a strong interface for good load transfer between the two. ...
